- 2 teaspoons Salt (kosher salt preferred)
- 1 Egg (large)
- 1 cup Flour (all-purpose)
- 0.5 cup Cornflour/Cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Onion powder
- 1 teaspoon Paprika
- 0.5 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon Thyme (fresh)
- 1 teaspoon Oregano
- 500 ml Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Whisk together the buttermilk and egg in a large bowl until fully combined.
- Add the chicken pieces to the buttermilk mixture, ensuring every piece is coated. Cover and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Mix together the flour, cornflour, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, thyme, and oregano in another bowl.
- Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in your frying pan over medium heat until it reaches approximately 350°F (180°C).
- Dredge each marinated chicken piece in the flour mixture, ensuring it’s coated thoroughly.
- Carefully place the coated chicken into the hot oil and fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Transfer the chicken to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Assemble your burger by placing the crispy fried chicken atop a bun and adding your favorite toppings.
Notes
For best results, marinate the chicken overnight for enhanced flavor. Try air frying for a healthier version.
