Description

Crispy fried apple rings coated in a sweet cinnamon dust, perfect for a cozy dessert or festive gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large Granny Smith apples, cored and sliced into ½ inch rings
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour for dredging
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour for batter
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar mixed with 1 tbsp ground cinnamon for dusting
  • 3 cups neutral oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples by slicing and coring them into uniform rings.
  2. Dry the rings using paper towels.
  3. Dredge the apple rings in the dredging flour.
  4. Make the batter by whisking together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Combine wet ingredients, beating the egg into the milk and vanilla before mixing into the dry ingredients.
  6. Batter each flour-dusted apple ring and let excess drip off.
  7. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Fry the rings in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  9. Drain excess oil on paper towels.
  10. Toss warm rings in the sugar and cinnamon mixture.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider air frying or baking the apple rings.
