- 3/4 cup caramel sauce
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice

- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your baking dish.
- Combine sliced apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Mix in caramel sauce and lemon juice.
- Transfer the apple mixture to the baking dish and scatter diced butter on top.
- Whisk together the gingerbread topping ingredients in a separate bowl.
- Gently fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Drop spoonfuls of gingerbread batter across the apple mixture.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until the topping is set.
- Cool for at least 15 minutes before serving warm.
Notes
Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra touch of indulgence. Make in advance and refrigerate before baking.
