- 2 lbs chicken breasts
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Pita bread
- Tzatziki sauce
- Sliced tomatoes
- Shredded lettuce
- Sliced red onion
Instructions
- Combine the lemon juice, minced garlic, olive oil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper in a bowl to create a marinade.
- Place chicken breasts into the marinade, coating well. Let sit for at least 30 minutes, preferably 2 hours, in the refrigerator.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Grill the marinated chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked.
- Remove the chicken and let it rest before slicing into thin strips.
- Warm the pita bread on the grill for about 1 minute on each side.
- Assemble the gyros with sliced chicken, tzatziki sauce, fresh veggies, and roll up the pita.
Notes
Customize with different proteins or add feta for extra flavor. Marinating overnight is encouraged for deeper flavor.
