Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for the glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add the softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk to the dry ingredients.
  4. Beat everything together with an electric mixer until the batter is smooth and creamy.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Prepare the glaze while the cake bakes by whisking powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl.
  8. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, poke holes in the top, and pour glaze over it.
  9. Invert the cake onto a serving platter once cooled completely.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, substitute with a one-to-one gluten-free flour blend. You can also use a mix of butter and applesauce for a lighter cake.
