- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup strawberries, pureed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- Food coloring (red and yellow)
- Chocolate frosting (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three round cake pans.
- Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the creamed butter and sugar, alternating with the milk.
- Divide the batter into three bowls, keeping one plain, adding strawberry puree to the second, and cocoa powder to the third.
- Pour each batter into prepared pans and smooth the tops.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form for frosting.
- Assemble the cake, layering with whipped cream in between each cake layer.
- Frost with chocolate frosting on top and sides.
