- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water

- Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and instant yeast. Stir gently until well mixed.
- Incorporate the warm water into the dry mixture, using a wooden spoon or your hands to mix until a rough dough forms.
- Let it rise: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel. Set aside at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.
- Preheat the oven: About 30 minutes before your dough is ready, preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Shape the dough: On a lightly floured surface, turn out the dough and gently flour its surface. Shape it into a ball and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
- Bake the bread: Transfer the dough onto parchment paper, then lift it into the hot Dutch oven. Cover and bake for 30 minutes.
- Brown the crust: Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool & slice: Transfer the baguette onto a wire rack and let it cool before slicing.
Notes
For a crustier finish, create steam in your oven while baking. You can also customize the dough by adding herbs or spices.
